Just finished the two books I got for Christmas, the 'Kingmaker, Kingbreaker' series by Karen Miller. Roughly 1300 pages I'd say.

She's a fantastic author. The plot was good, the writing easy to read and events were believable, realistic even for the setting (world has magic so...), such as people still having injuries and scars in the next chapter. And she killed people. She didn't mind killing people to advance the plot, which is good. She killed quite a few important people at the end of the first book, and then had someone go look at the bodies at the start of the second.

Still. She didn't have me crying till the last 8 pages.

I'm... not sure if I'm happy about the fact she packed so much into those last 8 pages that she had me sniffling, or kinda disapointed that she didn't do it a bit sooner and spend a bit more time on the aftermath, dealing with the main characters emotional fallout, which she didn't shy away from throughout the rest of the books.

I really really hope she writes more for this universe one day!

If I wanted to open an "Anime/Manga and all related merchandise" shop.... how would I go about it?

How would I make sure there was a market for it?
I only know my immediate friends who are into it who live in the local area, and they tell me about their friends who like it, so there MUST be a market in the area, but is it already being filled by online retailers and them all toddling up to London?

How would I find a shop to base it out of? Or would just any old place do, so long as people could theoretically GET to it? (I know my room isn't an option... I aint that dumb.)

What sort of hoops do you need to go through to set this all up?
I know I'd need a bank loan so I could rent the place and then buy all the inital stock in, but how would I do all that? Is there a special way on the red-tape-road?
And what about licenses? Do you need licenses to sell stuf in places?

How would I get contacts, so I could actually BUY stock to sell?
I guess with Tokyopop and Viz I could email them and go "Hey, I've just opened a shop to sell manga nad anime stuff, can you send me stuff so I can sell it for you guys at a cheaper rate please?" I guess I could also do that with the other publishers of the manga, and possibly for the animes as well...

But what about the assorted merchandie bit?
How would I find contacts in Japan? I don't speak Japanese yet, would I have to find a translator, or hope they speak English? And how would I know that it was genuin Japanese merchandise I was getting, not some Hong Kong/Taiwanese rip off? And how the hell would it all get here? I can't see Royal Mail appriciating those deliveries..... Joe would kill me o.o

And what about staff?
I know I asked one of my friends if she'd come work for me, but we both knew I was joking. How would I find good, honest, reliable staff who wouldn't clear out my stock cupboards for their rooms? I wouldnt know where to being, and I'd be such a soft touch at interviews.

I don't want to go.

(I don't want to go all the way across the bloody country to see someone I barely know do something I think pointless, worthless and all together a bloody big and expensive waste of time.

I also don't want to have to get up at a 'normal' time so that I can NOT eat a breakfast which would completely fuck me up for the rest of the day, and then get bitched at when I want to stay in the room for said day.

I don't want to get dragged along by my family, who will then turn round and tell me that I'm ruining it for everyone and that I am not, indeed, part of said family and that next time I shouldn't come, when I have said from the get go that I DON'T WANT TO FUCKING WELL COME TO MY STUPID COUSINS STUID FUCKING WEDDING GODS ALL DAMNIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So yes. I look sad. I look stressed. I have a very short temper and really can't suffer the idiotic brats who get dumped on me at Weavers JUST so their parents an have a few hours to go shag the milkman/secutary.

And I REALLY, TRULY don't like the way this all seems to be shaping up. We are apparently leaving here at half 9/10ish. Which is nasty for me, since it means I'll have to get up at something like half 6 to sort my stomach out. And then we'l get to stop at places along the way, because we can't have the room till a certain time. And then I'll have to sit through a meal, which giving my state of mind, I won't enjoy in the least. And then I got to dress up smart and go smile at someone who doesn't remember I exist for the majority of her life and probably wouldn't care if I was there or not. And then, on the Saturday, I get to go spend the entire day at her mums house, so they can have a BBQ. And then get to ride home, at night, when the service stations will be shut.

Yes, my life revolves around my stomach. I know how sad and pathetic that is, but I truly don't give a DAMN right now.

So yeah. I don't want to go.

I'm trying to find a trilogy of books I read about 10 years ago... and it's driving me crazy!

The main character is a girl. Or rather, I think the main character is a girl. She's pretty much the only one I remember. By the end of the trilogy I wanted to slap her stupid.

I can't remember most of the details... but she ends up in this big castle/school up in the mountains with loads of cliffs all around and lots of little hidey holes.

She had been told when she was younger that her paretns had died in an accident, had fallen off a cliff or something, but their bodies get found in an old room inside the castle/school by one of the girls friends, and they had obviously been murdered.

The girl can do weird things. I think.. she can teleport? Maybe. She can do SOMETHING that the big bad evil organisation wants so that they can go do big bad evil things.

There's a weird room with lots of statues in it... that's kinda significant to the plot. She sneaks in their and... something happens which makes the room explode. Or fall down. It's all misty in there.

At one point she get's kidnapped, and her friend tries to go rescue her, and she gets them back to the castle... I think.

I REALLY can't remember enough about it to search for it. All I know about the author is that her surname starts with a C, because that's where on the shelves it was in the library. And I know one of the books had a prissy looking kinda-spotty cat on the cover. And it was S+, so 8-12 year old range. DEFINATELY wasn't young adult back then... but then this IS something like 10 years ago.

I really want to read it again, just to see if it makes sense this time around, but I can't find it. I can't really remember the titles, but the Gaurdians of Time trilogy by Marianne Curley are kinda looking like they might just be it, but they're in the YA section and the synopsis sound all wrong!!!

Damnit, this is gonna send me INSANE!!!

In other news, life is just peachey right now. I had to pay car insurance, which meant all my money I had saved up went byebye. I have to pay Caroline for the car, which means I can't save any this month. Next month I have tax and MOT and stuff... and then I have to start saving for xmas.

So much for me saving 200 a month, huh?
But then, school life isn't so bad. I'm working with a year 6 next year, which is absolutely wonderful (in a non-sarcastic way!!!) as I will be able to have intelligent conversations with his classmates! Plus, I worked with the year group a bit when I very first started, so I kinda know them. And Weavers is kinda fun. They've finally sorted out all my college stuff! I'm going back to college, woo.

I just got back from the Anime Convention with Elsa. It was SO MUCH FUN!!!
I bought so many books it's unbelievable, and I saw so many cool people there!!!

I only took £105, and I came back with £4!

I gotta go to work tomorrow for a training day. 9-4. Shouldn't be so bad... except for my stomach >.<

And then next weekend will be the anime convention, which will be JUST as much fun... Sloghtly better in the fact I don't have to be there so early, slightly worse in the fact that it's half a bloody hour away!

Erm... not much else happening in my life really. Major stomach problems, and my pee is luminous. It does quite literally look like it would glow in the dark. I don't think it should do that somehow....

Erm. I've been buying manga, and cd's from japan. All very shiney and worth it... just not necessarily right now!

Not much else going on in my life to tell the truth. It is boring. And monotonus, if that's how you spell it. I play with my graphics tablet occasionally, not as much as I want to but eh. Work is... getting a bit weird. Can't put my finger on it, but it's strange. Something doesnt feel right.

Oh yes., Since my migraine (which kept me up ALL NIGHT being sick Easter Sunday) things have looked... strange. Not as they use to. It's like I'm seeing everything in a differnt way now. And it's scaring me a bit to be honest. It's like, I'll look at me room, and it just looks really different, even when I haven't done anything to it!!!

I saw a fox yesterday!

We had taken the kids down Warren Gorge, coz it was a nice day and they needed a run around, and sitting up on one of the slopey bits where people can't get too was this little fox. It was too far away to see properly, but it was there!!!

I felt so happy ^^

In other news... I bought myself a 300 odd quid A4 graphic tablet, which I can't set up till my parents get home on Saturday. Woe is me, for I want to play!!!

And... erm... what else.

I went down Lakeside last night and spent over £60 in Hotel Chocolat. I bought myself a MASSIVE happy easter egg, and Mike this medium sized sporty egg. And other bits, coz it's so darn nice!

I'm spending too much money..... but oh well. That's what it's there for I suppose ^^

I have to go for another blood test TT__TT Just got a letter from the doctors, I think they want more blood to play with so they can do different tests. I just want to kow what's wrong with meeeeeeeee!!! So I have to go again TT__TT

Erm... and that is all. Still waiting to see what Cazzie-chan and Petachu got me for my birthday... Oh yeah. My Aunt gave me £15, so more money for me (well, a BIT more money for me which has probably already been spent but ya know...)

It's my birthday ^^

So far, I've got Spyro - A new beginning from Mike; The Art Of Dragon Magazine (which really wasn't what I thought it'd be) and Dragonart (How to draw fantastic dragons and other things) from my mum and dad; and then a little 'somebunny to love you' from Janine (luv) and a big yellow squishy pillow thing from people in Weavers.
And £75 from the parents since they couldnt find me a web tablet.

All in all, this birthday isn't so bad.

Edit:
I also got a box of mini milk chocolate Thorntons eggs from the people in Weavers that I forgot about, and I just got £10 from my gramps and a cheeky card, and a BEAUTIFUL picture from Claire. She is love!

I appear to have bought a Wii with my brother.

It costs £181 (including postage and packaging. What? You expect me to buy it from anywhere other than Amazon? Puh-LEASE!)

My ability to upset myself amazes me sometimes.

A week or two ago I broke down in tears while talking to my boss over what was bothering me at work.

Things related to that are now getting better... slowly.

Today I have made myself feel like utter crap, like the lowliest person on this entire fucking planet and made myself wonder why in all the hells I make myself wake up in the mornings.

Basicly, I hate myself right now. I hate everything about me, especially the fact I have pretty much no interpersonal skills what so ever.

I really suck!

Erm, in other news, I've completely scrapped the pokemon story I was working on, and started again in a different direction. One that explores the aspects I actually want to explore, rather then being a whole lot of randomness.

I think I'll actually have a plot this time ^^

I've seen Sarah, she came round and we did.... pretty much nothing. I went to see Elsa and we watched anime movies. I went shopping today and spent OMFGHOWMUCH on clothes (and 2 books. 25 for one about wildlife in London and Kenshin 1).

I might go buy more tomorrow. Depends how much money I think I have.

Erm......

My life really is that boring. I think I might go work on the Manga Timeline I'm compiling. I'm working out when everything happens, so I can do fanfics set before the beginning of the story. Getting all the details down kinda. Most of it's easy enough ^^

January wasn't so bad as months go. I spent more money than I probably should have, but then I got less money that I think I should have, coz I think Thurrock Council messed up my Sick pay. Oh well.

I bought pretty things.
I now have several Saiyuki CD's, Saiyuki Reaload Gunlock DVD's, Zoids DVD's, a Shield Liger Zoid (that is only missing one leg and the stickers now! I'm getting there!), some exercise equipment that I AM using (occasionally), lot's of Pocky and Collon and Koala bear biscuits, and fuck loads of manga. Oh yes, fuck loads of manga.

I'll do a propper what-I-bought entry when I can be bothered to go through my bits and work it out. I need to update my manga list anyway. And if I do my what-I-bought list each month, it'll be easier to add it all up at the end of the year I figure ^^

Erm, what else can I say? My thoughts are EVERYWHERE at the moment. It's pissing me off. Must be because I spent all afternoon watching anime. I watched the first DVD of Zoids, which had 6 episodes on, and the first 2 Saiyuki Reload DVD's at 4 eps each. So that was 6 hours of my life gone in such a fantasticly fun way.

I have now memorised the kana for a, i, u, e, o. I can draw them too! (The japanese writing system is strange. Kana, which is made up of Hiragana and Katakana, are the very basic symbols. They represent sounds, such as ka, ta, ja, chi, tsu etc. There is a Hiragana and Katakana version for each sound. I think there are 70 odd altogether.) This is the easy part, considering there are about 50,000 kanji, 2,000 of them in common use -_-'

I need to invest in some proper modeling bits. Like a file, craft scissors/knife etc. My nails and teeth willl thank me. As will the models I suspect.

Fiddly bits are ANNOYING! Especially when they break, you glue it back together, and then the stick gets stuck and you're left with the hook bit which wont stay on anywhere without the stick (stupid pretend hydrolics!)

Errrm. Had a crappy meeting last night. The new manager (Julie) is determined to turn the club on it's head. I can see it all going up in flames, and said as much when Julie asked me what the matter was coz I was making "sulky faces". I can foresee lots of problems. LOTS of problems. And the club dynamics have changed. I don't like it... I feel out of the loop again. But what the hell. I'm just a playworker, no one important or anything ¬ ¬

Other than that, life is good. I have my bookshelves, I have my books to go on them. My credit card bill isn't too high this month... and despite having three days as unpaid leave, I worked overtime, so it should all balance out. Ah. I need to talk to Shay and see about the holiday pay... hmmm...

I bought myself a Zoid. I'd been meaning to ever since they came out, but unfortunately at that time I didn't have the money, and then got distracted when I did so...

Yes. Several years down the line, I have now bought myself a Zoid.

A Shield Liger to be precise. And I've tried to order a Helcat, Redler and Lightning Saix from Hobbylink Japan, just because I want (and probably wont get. The only one in stock is the Redler (which is what I really want anyway) and I get the impression that these were very, very limited).

So yeah. It's pretty much like the gundams actually. Lots of little bits. But I hadn't realised how much I had missed it. Ohmygod I missed this!!!

Back to my original point...

It turned up this morning (I got it from... somewhere in England?) and coz I was in the shower when the posty showed up, it sat on the doorstep in the wind and rain for a bit. The outer packaging was soggy... eeeeeeew!

I started to make it about an hour ago maybe?

I've already broke two bits and lost the pilots legs.

The two bits are fixed. I now love plastic glue. But the pilots legs? Fuck only knows! He's made of a body, two arms and 'legs'. I stuck one arm in its holes and yay, fine, that worked. I put the legs in and yay, it was ok. I try to put the other arm in, realise it'll be easier to take the leg out so I can hold it better, do so, wriggle the little shit in, go to pick up the legs and....

Where the fuck did they go?????

I searched my bed, on top of the cover, under the cover, behind me, int he box before carefully peering over the side at the floor. I can't see anything, so I slowly get up, feeling all my clothes for small leggy bits. Nothing. They've gone. Wandered off somewhere I suspect. They better come back! I didn't want a pilot in it really, but since I've started to make him, I'll be damned if I only have half of one now!

So yeah. I'm kinda hoping they show up. Soon. I looked all over the floor, under my bed, as far under the chest of drawers and wardrobe as I can, and I can't see anything. I even went through my bin, in case it had fallen in.

In other news, go me for posting two days in a row. I really should sleep, I'm gonna be babysitting tomorrow till goodness only knows when.
